FAQ

Before you call

What styles of custom cabinet doors can I choose from?

We build shaker, raised-panel, flat-slab, and beaded inset door styles, covering contemporary, craftsman, french country, modern, rustic modern, traditional, and transitional looks. Most homeowners land on shaker for its flexibility, but the right choice depends on your home's architecture and whether you want the kitchen to match or contrast with adjoining rooms.

What's the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinets?

Semi-custom cabinets come in standard box widths, usually stepped in 3-inch increments, with some choice in door style and finish. Fully custom cabinetry is built to your exact opening dimensions, eliminating filler panels and maximizing storage, but it takes longer in the shop since every box is made to order.

What wood species work best for stained versus painted cabinets?

Maple and cherry have tight, even grain that takes stain smoothly, so they're common choices for stained kitchens. Oak's open grain shows more texture under stain. For painted cabinets, grain matters less since paint covers it, so species choice there is more about durability and cost.

How long does it take from design consultation to installed cabinets?

Timelines depend on whether you're going semi-custom or fully custom, plus current shop workload. Consultation and design typically happen over one or two meetings, shop fabrication takes the bulk of the time, and installation itself usually runs a few days depending on kitchen size and any wall or floor irregularities on site.

Can you build custom cabinets for a bathroom vanity?

Yes. Vanity cabinets are built from moisture-resistant plywood rather than particleboard, since bathrooms see more humidity than kitchens. Drawer fronts are sized to clear plumbing behind them, and we set height around 34 inches standard, adjustable if you want the vanity raised.

What hardware and pull options do you offer for cabinets?

We carry a range of knobs and pulls in different finishes and profiles, and we'll help set spacing — typically centered on drawer fronts and 2 to 3 inches from the top corner on doors. Hardware gets chosen alongside door style and finish so the whole kitchen reads as one decision.
